A New Season Ahead

Training and Competition News
After last season was abruptly halted by my head injury with a minor scalp laceration and concussion I am now fully recovered and hope for better luck this season.  I had hoped to post some video of training from last season but my accident occurred just before filming was to commence.  However, I was able to find some older film clips of my son and and myself training a few years ago.   I was about thirty pounds over my current weight in that video.  I hope to greatly improve upon my former skiing with my new leaner body; barring more injuries of course!  As you can easily see my son is a much better skier than I am!

Pictures from June 6, 2009 INT Tournament
This picture taken at about 8am shows just how windy and choppy it was just before I skied.  This made for some calculated decisions on what speed to start at.
In this close up you can see my beautiful 68" Radar Annex ski as the wind is straightening out "Old Glory" in the background, not to mention what little hair I still have left.
My daughter Shannon and other competitors trying to stay warm on the dock waiting patiently for their turn to ski.  The wind chill made us all keep clothes on over our swim wear to keep our bodies warm.
Shannon, having finished a successful outing with a full pass at 26.7mph and a second pass with 4 buoys at 28.6mph swims in to the dock with a smile on her face.
Shannon is showing her ski "some luv" with a hug shortly before she sheds her sweat clothes and heads down the lake into the slalom course.
Shannon showing off her new Radar waterski, her early birthday present.  It's a couple hours later now and the lake is starting to calm down a little before Shannon skis, lucky her!
Day 2 of the INT Tournament
Day 2 was much easier skiing but the sun never made an appearance.  While I only managed to get two more buoys, 5 at 32mph (which is my tournament PB many times over) Shannon on the other hand bested her PB by running all six buoys at 28.6mph and rounded 2 ball at 30mph for a new personal best of 1.5 at 30mph.  Below are some pictures of day 2.
Shan telling the boat crew her starting speed and line length.
Yours Truly with my Philadelphia Collar protecting my neck.  One of the other skiers told me he was wondering if patients can ski after a C-Spine fusion.  I guess I am living proof you can as long as you are careful and you take precautions.  Skiing with the collar did take some getting used to but skiing
is my number one recreational passion and I will do anything to keep on shredding the water.
A big smile after just skiing into 30mph and setting a new personal best of 1.5 buoys.
A second place podium finish on day two, having jumped up a division from the day before when she had a first place finish in the lower division.
